Two members of the HDMO consortium, Gábor Polyák and Krisztina Nagy, have been appointed to the Hungarian Media Council, with Gábor Polyák serving as President and Krisztina Nagy as a member of the Council.

Dr Krisztina Nagy is a lawyer, media literacy expert and university lecturer. She previously worked at the Hungarian National Radio and Television Commission (ORTT). Her doctoral research focused on media literacy from a media policy and regulatory perspective. Her academic and research work has focused on the regulation of digital platforms, media literacy and awareness, and the protection of children.

Gábor Polyák is a lawyer, media law expert and communications specialist with around 25 years of experience working on media and telecommunications issues. He is Head of the Institute of Art Theory and Media Studies at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and Founder and research director of the Mérték Media Monitor. His research and professional work have addressed, among other issues, media market concentration in Hungary, operation of public service media and decisions of the Hungarian media authority.

The HDMO consortium partners congratulate Gábor Polyák and Krisztina Nagy on their appointments and wish them every success in their new roles.

These appointments also mark an important change for the HDMO project. Within 30 days, the consortium will develop and take all necessary steps to ensure that it can continue its professional work effectively and with the necessary expertise, while ensuring that any legal, substantive, or ethical conflicts of interest are ruled out.
