Update on the HDMO Project Following Appointments to the Hungarian Media Council
Following the appointments of two former leading figures of Hungarian Digital Media Observatory, Gábor Polyák as President of the Hungarian Media Council and Krisztina Nagy as a member of the Council, the Hungarian Digital Media Observatory (HDMO) consortium wishes to provide further clarification regarding their involvement in the project and the measures being taken to ensure a clear separation between their new roles and the activities of the consortium.
Both Gábor Polyák and Krisztina Nagy previously contributed to the HDMO project through their respective consortium member organisations Mérték and IDEA. In light of their appointments to the Hungarian Media Council, arrangements have been initiated to formally end their contractual relationships connected to the project.
Gábor Polyák’s employment contract with Mérték ended on 30 September 2026, while Krisztina Nagy’s contract with IDEA will end on 31 October 2026. Furthermore, they both have initiated their departure from any and all of their respective ownership and board membership roles from their member organisations as well as within the consortium itself.
The HDMO consortium considers it important to communicate these arrangements transparently and to ensure that the organisational and contractual implications of the appointments are addressed appropriately.
These measures are intended to establish a clear and definitive separation between the individuals’ roles within the Hungarian Media Council and the HDMO project, while ensuring the continuity of the consortium’s work in accordance with its existing commitments and obligations.
The consortium remains committed to maintaining the professional integrity, independence and transparency of the project and to ensuring that its activities continue without disruption.
