On April 15, 2024 international news agency AFP launched its second training course in digital investigation as part of the Lakmusz-HDMO project. The training was designed for a small group of Hungarian journalists, extended to students in journalism.
It took place at the French Institute in Budapest, as part of a series of events called ‘Fake News Week’.

AFP Training coordinator for Digital investigation Europe Estelle Peard and AFP Hungarian factchecker Ede Zaborszky welcomed 10 participants at the Institute library for an introductory session.
During this 2 hour-session Estelle and Ede used design thinking techniques to explain what misinformation is. They provided a general view of the Hungarian misinformation environment.

“Teaching students in journalism is a strong motivation, because we provide basic tools useful for their whole journalistic career”, said Estelle.

The following two days took place in a training room at the Institute for more hands-on sessions: The trainees learned how to detect and tackle disinformation online, and were asked to do real-time exercises.

The training will end with an online closing session on April 29.
